Do you have a fairly large minimum payment on your credit cards or do you want to peck away at that burdensome debt? Why not make a payment every week and raise your credit score in the process?
Paying you credit card payment like this is called making micropayments. Micropayments do not necessarily have to be made every week, but should be done at least twice a month. This is an easy way to manage an overwhelming minimum or lower the principal on your balance. It also allows you to spread your commitment over a greater number of paychecks.
Making these payments, especially if you are making more than the minimum, will decrease your credit utilization ratio. Since the credit utilization ratio accounts for 30% of your credit score, you can see how it is important to keep it low.
One last point is that it is easier to make micropayments if you pay online. You can schedule the payments to insure that they are credited to your account before the end of the billing cycle, so that you do not have to pay as much interest.
